2000<br />

Remained a valued member of the Eagles’ secondary<br />

in his third season with the team…Saw<br />

action in all 16 regular-season games, plus both playoff<br />

contests…Made four starts – three when Eagles opened<br />

in ‘nickel’ alignment…Recorded 32 tackles (22 solo) and<br />

three passes defensed…At Arizona (Oct. 15): Though<br />

he did not pick off a pass over the course of the year, was<br />

credited with a 1-yard INT return when Vincent lateraled to<br />

him…At N.Y. Giants (Oct. 29): Started for a healthy<br />

Taylor, his only start of the season in base defense.<br />

1999<br />

Continued to excel as a spot starter during his<br />

second year as Philadelphia’s ‘nickel’ corner…<br />

Made six starts, five of them in place of either Taylor or<br />

Vincent, while playing in every game…Tied for second on<br />

the team with four interceptions and also recorded 40 tackles<br />

(31 solo) with 17 passes defensed…Ranked first in the<br />

NFC with 151 interception return yards…Signed a five-year<br />

contract extension, through the 2004 season, on Nov. 6…<br />

Vs. Arizona (Sept. 12): On opening day, registered his<br />

first <strong>NFL</strong> interception when he picked off QB Jake Plummer<br />

to position Eagles for an early TD…Vs. Washington<br />

(Nov. 14): Intercepted QB Brad Johnson after ripping the<br />

ball loose from WR Albert Connell (a one-time teammate at<br />

Trinity Valley Community College)…Vs. New England<br />

(Dec. 19): Returned a Drew Bledsoe INT 84 yards – the<br />

longest ever by an Eagles player at Veterans Stadium – to<br />

set up a TD…Vs. St. Louis (Jan. 2): Scored first <strong>NFL</strong><br />

touchdown by returning a Joe Germaine interception 17<br />

yards for game-winning points.<br />

1998<br />

Became an immediate contributor in his first season<br />

with the Eagles…Was claimed off waivers<br />

by Philadelphia on Aug. 31 following his release by Tampa<br />

Bay a day earlier in the final roster reduction of training<br />

camp (had been re-signed by Buccaneers on Jan. 22 following<br />

expiration of ’97 season practice-squad contract)…<br />

Played in all 16 games, serving as third CB when not in the<br />

starting lineup…Notched 53 tackles (45 solo), as well as<br />

five passes defensed and a pair of special teams stops…<br />

Vs. Seattle (Sept. 6): Made <strong>NFL</strong> debut in opener, starting<br />

at RCB in place of injured Taylor (shoulder), the first<br />

of five straight starts and seven overall on the year…At<br />

Arizona (Sept. 20): Established career high with eight<br />

total tackles in just his third game. Also had season-best<br />

two pass breakups.<br />
