Build your backpacking skills before setting out on a<br />

Trace <strong>camp</strong>ing ethics; plan your own mountain meals<br />
in cooking groups; learn the do’s <strong>and</strong> don’ts of packing<br />
your gear; then set off to conquer the trail. You’ll earn<br />
the <strong>Girl</strong> <strong>Scouts</strong> <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong>’s Wilderness Hiking <strong>and</strong> Basic<br />

rustic meals <strong>and</strong> create your own cookbook. Put your<br />
new skills to test at the end of the week with an “Iron<br />
Chef” cook-off featuring a mystery ingredient. You’ll<br />
work toward the Simple Meals badge.<br />

<strong>camp</strong>. Showcase your creations at a film festival for<br />
other <strong>camp</strong>ers, <strong>and</strong> share the link to your masterpiece<br />
with family <strong>and</strong> friends. You’ll work toward the Digital<br />
Movie Maker badge.<br />

Canoe Adventure<br />

teamwork, then plan <strong>and</strong> take a trip to a local lake to<br />
<strong>camp</strong> out <strong>and</strong> practice what you’ve learned.<br />

Take the first step toward becoming a <strong>camp</strong> counselor<br />
by practicing leading <strong>and</strong> working with <strong>camp</strong>ers. Identify<br />
your talents, underst<strong>and</strong> your leadership style, polish<br />
your teaching skills <strong>and</strong> experience the challenges <strong>and</strong><br />
rewards of working with younger girls in an outdoor setting.<br />
You’ll work toward the CIT Award.<br />

Counselor-in-Training 2 (CIT 2)<br />
Age 17<br />
Rustic cabin accommodations<br />
Continue developing <strong>camp</strong> counseling skills <strong>and</strong> work<br />
directly with <strong>camp</strong>ers. Get experience in supervision,<br />
group management <strong>and</strong> program planning. Gain insight<br />
into the responsibilities of managing the <strong>camp</strong> community<br />
while you work toward your CIT 2 Award. CITs go<br />
home for the weekend of June 28-July 1.<br />
Prerequisite: Successful completion of CIT I or council<br />
approval.<br />
