Discover a world of adventure in canoeing, hiking and
bouldering. Satisfy your thirst for new experiences with
a week packed full of high-action sports in the great
outdoors. Make your way to the far reaches of camp to
explore Rattlesnake Gorge and Lower Lake.

Backpacking
Grades 8-12
Rustic cabin accommodations
Build your backpacking skills before setting out on a
three-day, off-camp backpacking trip. Learn the basics,
including map-and-compass navigation and Leave No
Trace camping ethics; plan your own mountain meals
in cooking groups; learn the do’s and don’ts of packing
your gear; then set off to conquer the trail. You’ll earn
the Girl Scouts San Diego’s Wilderness Hiking and Basic
Backpacking patches.

Camp Chef
Grades 4-5
Under-the-stars accommodations
Cook up a culinary storm of fabulous main dishes and
delectable desserts. Experience a variety of outdoor
cooking techniques as you whip up mouthwatering
main dishes and delicious desserts. Plan and prepare
rustic meals and create your own cookbook. Put your
new skills to test at the end of the week with an “Iron
Chef” cook-off featuring a mystery ingredient. You’ll
work toward the Simple Meals badge.

Camp Out Loud!
Grades 4-5
Under-the-stars accommodations
Camp your way! Work with your team to discover all that
Camp Winacka has to offer, sampling arts and crafts,
aquatics, outdoor cooking, nature studies, challenge
course, archery and more. At the end of the week, write
a camp song with your group about all the fun you had
and present it at campfire.

Camp: The Movie
Grades 6-8
Under-the-stars accommodations
Envision this camp through your own lens. Will you write,
produce, direct or act? Work in small groups to put
together a short drama, documentary or comedy about
camp. Showcase your creations at a film festival for
other campers, and share the link to your masterpiece
with family and friends. You’ll work toward the Digital
Movie Maker badge.

Canoe Adventure
Grades 6-8
Under-the-stars accommodations
Practice canoeing at camp, then put your skills to the
test. Develop skills on the water while making new
friends. Work on a tip test, stroke development and
teamwork, then plan and take a trip to a local lake to
camp out and practice what you’ve learned.

Counselor-in-Training 1 (CIT 1)
Age 16
Rustic cabin accommodations
Take the first step toward becoming a camp counselor
by practicing leading and working with campers. Identify
your talents, understand your leadership style, polish
your teaching skills and experience the challenges and
rewards of working with younger girls in an outdoor setting.
You’ll work toward the CIT Award.

Counselor-in-Training 2 (CIT 2)
Age 17
Rustic cabin accommodations
Continue developing camp counseling skills and work
directly with campers. Get experience in supervision,
group management and program planning. Gain insight
into the responsibilities of managing the camp community
while you work toward your CIT 2 Award. CITs go
home for the weekend of June 28-July 1.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of CIT I or council
approval.
