MASTER OF ARTS IN CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING (Midwest Counseling Program) (112 QUARTER HOURS) Purpose of the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A.C.M.H.C.) Degree The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A.C.M.H.C.) degree seeks to provide the academic and experiential background needed to equip students to effectively minister as professional counselors. In addition, the degree satisfies Ohio educational requirements set by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board for licensure as a Professional Counselor (P.C.) and Professional Clinical Counselor (P.C.C.). Students earning the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree must complete 112 quarter hours with a B– or higher in each counseling course, according to Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board law, and a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on 4.0 grading scale for other course work such as biblical and theological classes. NOTE: M.A.C.M.H.C. students must complete three of the six seminary core courses (IT 501, IT 502, OT 511, NT 511 or NT 512, CH 500, and CT 601 or 602) before the end of the first academic year (including summer). Two of these courses must be IT 500 and IT 502. The remaining three core courses must be completed by the end of the second academic year (including summer). M.A.C.M.H.C. students must complete the first year of the counseling cohort before being eligible to take the non-cohort Clinical Content courses.
