STATEMENT:
Fairbanks has is under represented in Juneau. Once
elected, I will become a member of the House Majority.
This is important for Fairbanks as for the previous 6
years, this position has been in the House Minority and
has been noneffective and damaging to the interests of
Fairbanks. This must change. Upon election, I will join
with a Majority of Interior Representatives becoming
stronger, more powerful in Majority Delegation in the
House. Large budget surpluses are past and Fairbanks
missed this opportunity to have a better infrastructure
built because of our weak representation.
Upon election, my priority is very simple. Dropping
energy costs in Fairbanks. The first priority is have
the Healy Clean Coal Plant activated. This 50 Megs of
power to Fairbanks and drop energy costs in Fairbanks
and average of $20M per year to rate payers. The
State of Alaska must invest in the LNG at Prudhoe Bay.
Watching 3 companies fight over who owns/operates
and directs it is unconscionable. Once trucking natural
gas trucking to Fairbanks begins, GVEA can convert
their plants in North Pole. These items will drop our
electric costs from $.23 to $.13 per KWH.
We have waited for a gas line for 50. For the first time
in our State’s history, our Legislature voted on the State
owning and building it. No Fairbanks Representative
should vote against a project that brings gas to 2 miles
of Fairbanks and gives us $1.50 fuel. I will always
represent what is best for Fairbanks.
