I grew up in North Carolina, joined the Navy at 17, and<br />

served aboard submarines. After leaving the active<br />

Navy I married, graduated from college and law school,<br />

and entered active service as a Navy judge advocate.<br />

I left the Navy in 1990, moved to Anchorage, and in<br />

2003 became a judge in Kenai.<br />

STATEMENT:<br />

I am honored to have served as a Superior Court Judge<br />

on the Kenai Peninsula for almost nine years. I am<br />

the “traveling judge” and hear cases in Kenai, Homer,<br />

and Seward. I enjoy holding trials at all Peninsula<br />

locations and meeting the dedicated people who<br />

serve as jurors. As a judge, I make sure every person<br />

who enters the courtroom is treated with respect. I do<br />

my best to make timely, well-informed decisions and<br />

speak directly to litigants whenever possible.<br />

In addition to my judicial duties, I have served on<br />

<strong>Alaska</strong>’s Children’s Justice Act Task Force and<br />

presented at seminars on children’s issues. I have<br />

volunteered at local schools and have been a speaker<br />

for local civic groups. I love my job and the communities<br />

I serve.<br />
