WORKSHOP: DEAL MAKING Partnering for Results Premise: No one player has the money or know-how to deliver all a community needs. But by reaching out and forming strategic partnerships, nothing is impossible. Deal-making begins with coalitions forged among members who bring knowledge and power to the task … and don’t take “no” for an answer. Partnerships can range from formal combinations that undertake large commercial ventures to looser, community-minded coalitions out to provide a needed social service. Two featured examples are Quad Communities Development Corporation’s courtship and closing of a deal with Ohio-based Mahogany Ventures to build a residential-overretail complex at 47 th and Cottage Grove Avenue; and Teamwork Englewood’s successful effort to win a federal “Weed & Seed” grant to help both at-risk youth and adult ex-offenders.
