in Woodlawn, added his own tribute:

cufflinks. A bouquet of flowers.
What do they have in common
They make you feel good. A
Community Hero Award is a kiss
on the cheek, a pair of cufflinks,
a bouquet of flowers. … you
make us look better.”
He also read a resolution by the
Chicago City Council recognizing the
heroes. The resolution stated in part:
“ WHEREAS These community heroes
have taken on the task of building their
community and valiantly work to
sustain, preserve and encourage the
positive growth of their neighborhoods;
now therefore
“ BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor
and members of the Chicago City
Council … do hereby salute each
aforementioned Community Hero and
extend our heartfelt thanks for their
service to their neighborhoods and
our city.”
