with polyamide extrusion grades: Rolf Alles,
Fibers for T-shirts and carpets, flexible
packaging for sausage casings,
and packed for cheese and cold
meats – not many people know that
all of these products are produced from
Ultramid ® high-performance polymer. This
material is well known from injection-molding
applications in the automotive and
electrical sectors, but is also used in the
packaging sector. The reason: Ultramid ® is
classified as non-hazardous under food
legislation and has excellent barrier properties
with respect to oxygen, organic solvents,
and flavors. The acquisition of
Honeywell’s engineering plastics business
has brought additional expertise to the
extrusion team. The primary goal is to
combine the best from the two
companies.
“We are a global team, small but effective” is
how Dr. Thomas Liese-Sauer of Global Marketing
