A smoother ride for cyclists
Cellasto ® springs cope with even the toughest tracks
Anew, high-tech suspension
designed just for
bikes has been developed by
Elastogran. Cellasto ® (made from microcellular
polyurethane) has been used to
produce suspension springs that are
suitable for free riders, cross-country
professionals and downhill bikers.
The suspension element SSD-210 has
been developed in collaboration with DT
Swiss Biel/Switzerland, one of the
biggest international manufacturers of
high-end bicycle spokes and hubs. The
spring system is a precision product and
also one of the lightest on the market
and as a result came out top in a comparative
test by biking magazine Mountainbike.
The perfect
choice
There are many other benefits too. The DT
Swiss shock absorber is a pneumatic
cylinder, combined with a Cellasto ® negative
spring. This is an ideal combination, as
other
types of air
springs have a high failure risk.
The characteristic curve important for professionals
is very similar to a steel spring,
but much lighter. When the shock
absorber is compressed during riding, the
partition shifts against a second Cellasto ®
spring and increases air volume. As a
result, pressure’s reduced and the characteristic
curve progression flattens out. This
means even suspension for the cyclist,
and no unpleasant or painful jolts whenever
they have to push harder on the pedals.
The polyurethane elastomers in the
shock absorber are highly elastic
and can be precisely tuned to the
cyclist and type of bicycle. They’re also
abrasion resistant, fail-safe, service-free
and extremely durable. So, Cellasto’s ideal
for cycling enthusiasts who don’t want the
hassle of steel springs but still want sensitive
suspension to get them there safely.
