Writer/director Pernilla August
Actress Pernilla August’s talent proved it
could transfer from stage to screen when
she made an indelible impression in Ingmar
Bergman’s directorial swansong Fanny and
Alexander in 1982.
Since then, she has won numerous
awards including Best Actress at the
Cannes Film Festival for her performance in
The Best Intentions, directed by Bille August
and written by Bergman.
She continued to work with Bergman
and Liv Ullman in Private Confessions in
1996 and, in 1999, became Shmi Skywalker
in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom
Menace, returning in 2002 for Episode II -
Attack of the Clones, both directed by
George Lucas.
In parallel with her acting, August also
directs for the stage. Svinalängorna is her
film directing debut.
Writer Lolita Ray
Born in 1957, Lolita Ray is a published poet,
singer-songwriter and performing artist. She
has released CDs with her bands; toured in
the USA, UK, Finland and Sweden; and is
now working on her solo album. She is also
the mother of five grown-up children and a
globetrotter looking for the adventures and
challenges of life.
She is soon to set off alone on a twoand-a-half
month walk for the environment,
‘2 Million Steps for the Climate’, through
Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
