East Orphan Bas<strong>in</strong><br />
• Great Barasway F-66 well operated by Chevron was drilled <strong>in</strong><br />
2006/7 <strong>in</strong> EL 1076. This well set a Canadian record <strong>for</strong> deep water<br />
drill<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a water depth of 2338 m; the well TD’d and was<br />
abandoned at 6749.9 m<br />
• F-66 well found good Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous reservoirs<br />
and Late Jurassic source rocks. However the reservoirs were wet<br />
and only several shows were encountered<br />
• At least a dozen of other large structural and stratigraphic traps<br />
were identified <strong>in</strong> the bas<strong>in</strong> with the two large proprietary 3D<br />
surveys and several dense 2D grids exist<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the bas<strong>in</strong>. These<br />
prospects rema<strong>in</strong> to be drilled<br />
• A consolidation of the Chevron and ExxonMobil operated lands<br />
<strong>in</strong>to two ELs (EL1073R and EL1074R) took place <strong>in</strong> 2008; at the<br />
time the EL 1075 and the north-eastern part of EL 1080 were<br />
rel<strong>in</strong>quished to the Crown<br />
• An exploration well is planned <strong>for</strong> the spr<strong>in</strong>g/summer of 2010<br />
• A large part of the petroleum prospective East Orphan Bas<strong>in</strong><br />
rema<strong>in</strong> un-licensed and opened <strong>for</strong> company land post<strong>in</strong>g<br />
