Hydrocarbon Traps <strong>in</strong> Parcel 1<br />

•A A multitude of traps exists <strong>in</strong> the parcel. The prerift sequence is<br />

rich <strong>in</strong> structural traps; the postrift sequence conta<strong>in</strong>s mostly<br />

stratigraphic traps; comb<strong>in</strong>ation traps may exist on the north-<br />

westerly plunge of the salt-cored Amethyst Ridge<br />

•All accumulations found to date are normally pressured <strong>in</strong><br />

structural traps<br />

•Structural Traps are extensional features such as: horst and<br />

rotated blocks; they conta<strong>in</strong> the clastic dom<strong>in</strong>ated Late Jurassic to<br />

late Early Cretaceous successions<br />

•Stratigraphic traps are of the p<strong>in</strong>chout, , onlap, truncation, lens<br />

types conta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g predom<strong>in</strong>antly Early to Late Cretaceous age and<br />

possibly Early Tertiary sandstones<br />
