Kimmeridgian Aged Egret Source Rock<br />
Abundant Type II, oil prone source rock with up to 9% TOC<br />
•Over 25 exploration wells have penetrated the Egret Mbr. . source rock<br />
•Four lithological components have been identified with<strong>in</strong> the Egret<br />
Member of Rank<strong>in</strong> Fm. source <strong>in</strong>terval: 1) a dark-brown lam<strong>in</strong>ated shale<br />
(most abundant and highest oil generation potential); ; 2) a grey to grey-<br />
brown shale; 3) a light brown marlstone/limestone; and 4) a f<strong>in</strong>e-gra<strong>in</strong>ed<br />
sandstone and siltstone (Bateman, 1995)<br />
•Thickness rang<strong>in</strong>g from 50 m to well over 500 m at Panther P-52P<br />
•Best mar<strong>in</strong>e source rock with<strong>in</strong> the North Atlantic rift system<br />
•Proven Distribution <strong>in</strong> <strong>Jeanne</strong> d’Arc d<br />
Bas<strong>in</strong> to the South (Hibernia,(<br />
Terra<br />
Nova, White Rose etc.) and to the East (Panther(<br />
Panther, S. Tempest, Bonanza)<br />
•Proven distribution <strong>in</strong> northern Flemish Pass Bas<strong>in</strong> (Baccalieu(<br />
and<br />
recently both Mizzen wells)<br />
•Occurs with<strong>in</strong> north-south and/or northeast-southwest southwest trend<strong>in</strong>g deep<br />
bas<strong>in</strong>s<br />
