Animal Science I 6821<br />
Prerequisite: Biology<br />
Students learn the basic scientific principles and processes<br />
involved in animal physiology, breeding, genetics, diseases, and<br />
nutrition. They also learn the role showmanship and marketing<br />
play in animal science careers.<br />
Animal Science II - Small Animal 6823<br />
(Completer <strong>Course</strong>)<br />
Prerequisite: Animal Science I, level II<br />
This course focuses on small animals that are served by veterinarians.<br />
Students learn animal husbandry including topics such as<br />
breeding, grooming, housing, nutrition, healthcare, anatomy, and<br />
physiology.<br />
Agricultural Advanced Studies 6899<br />
Prerequisite: Three credits in the Agricultural, Food, and Natural<br />
Resources Cluster<br />
This is a three-phased exit course for seniors who want to pursue<br />
a career in agriculture. The three phases are: a research<br />
paper, a product the student develops, and a class presentation.<br />
In each phase, students will demonstrate their ability to apply<br />
content knowledge to real world situations.<br />
Teen Living 7015<br />
Prerequisite: None<br />
Students in this class learn how to get along and get ahead in an<br />
adult world. Topics include: staying healthy through proper nutrition<br />
and preventive medical care, becoming job-ready, managing<br />
personal finances, and building a family and raising children. Through<br />
simulated experiences, students practice the skills they will need to<br />
fulfill their responsibilities at home and in the community.<br />
Foods I - Fundamentals 7045<br />
Prerequisite: None<br />
This course examines the nutritional needs of human beings with<br />
a special focus on how diet impacts health. Students learn<br />
kitchen and meal management along with food preparation.<br />
Foods II – Advanced 7046 (Completer <strong>Course</strong>)<br />
Prerequisite: Foods I<br />
This course focuses on advanced food preparation methods.<br />
Students continue their study of nutrition and food science as<br />
they work in a test kitchen using the latest technology.The curriculum<br />
will prepare students to take the Servsafe exam offered<br />
by the National Restaurant Association which tests the student's<br />
mastery of food safety and sanitation concepts.<br />
Family and Consumer Sciences Advanced Studies 7199<br />
Prerequisite: Three credits in the Agricultural, Food, and Natural<br />
Resources Cluster<br />
