Keyboarding Skills<br />
Keyboarding Skill as a prerequisite for some of the courses below is defined as: demonstrated ability to key a minimum of 35 words per<br />
minute with errors corrected, format an announcement, memorandum, personal business letter, bound and unbound report from a rough draft<br />
copy, and exhibit proper keyboarding technique.<br />

FOUNDATIONAL COURSES<br />
Computerized Accounting I 6311<br />
Prerequisite: Keyboarding skill<br />
The accounting cycle is a systematic way for businesses to maintain<br />
accurate financial records. Students learn how the accounting<br />
cycle works and gain an understanding of the methods businesses<br />
use to analyze and record transactions, prepare and interpret<br />
financial statements, keep payroll records, and monitor banking<br />
statements.<br />

Prerequisite: Computerized Accounting I<br />
Students apply accounting procedures to partnerships, corporations,<br />
and not-for-profits businesses. They learn how accounting<br />
systems track inventory, analyze financial health, and control budgets.<br />
Using multiple sources of accounting data, students explore<br />
how businesses solve problems and make financial decisions.<br />
Principles of Business and Finance 6200<br />
Prerequisite: None<br />
Students learn the basic concepts that guide businesses as they<br />
make management decisions in a multinational marketplace.This<br />
course will prepare students for more advanced courses in the<br />
Business Management and Administration Cluster.<br />
Personal Finance 7086<br />
Prerequisite: None<br />
Students learn the financial skills they will need to live independently<br />
as adults. Topics include financial planning, shopping skills, managing<br />
a bank account and credit/debit cards, and managing assets.<br />
Business Law 6215<br />
Prerequisite: None<br />
Students learn how laws impact their lives when they purchase<br />
insurance, rent or own real estate, sign a contract, or buy something<br />
on credit. Students also learn how businesses develop hiring<br />
and firing guidelines, write contracts, and maintain ethical business<br />
practices.<br />
Small Business and Entrepreneurship 6235<br />

Prerequisite: 2 credits in the Business Management and<br />
Administration Cluster<br />
Students explore the rewards and risks of owning and operating<br />
a small business. They learn important entrepreneurial know-how<br />
including selecting the right legal structure, developing a business<br />
plan, deciding where to locate a business, and managing the business<br />
over time, and marketing products or services.<br />
Business Advanced Studies 6599<br />
Prerequisite: Three credits in the Finance Cluster<br />
This study is a three-phased exit course for seniors who are<br />
career focused in trade and industrial education. Students<br />
demonstrate their ability to use content and apply knowledge to<br />
real world situations through the three components of the program<br />
including a research paper, a product, and a presentation.<br />
