ED 420: INDIVIDUALIZED INTERVENTION FOR STUDENT TEACHING 3-6 s.h.<br />
Professional development program of intervention designed for students who require individualized experiences to successfully<br />
demonstrate professional knowledge and competencies in school and agency settings. Implementing an Individualized Intervention<br />
Plan (IIP) prepares students for successful field experiences and enables them to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes<br />
needed to become successful classroom practitioners. Does not fulfill the student teaching requirement. Prerequisites:<br />
Recommendation of director of field services, university student teaching supervisor, Elementary/Secondary Block Committee,<br />
and/or Education Department chair. Completion of 90 semester hours, satisfactory standing in admission and retention standards<br />
in the college, completion of all required professional courses in certification area with a minimum grade of “C,” a cumulative<br />
QPA of 2.8, and meets university residence requirements. On demand.<br />
ED 421: MODERN LANGUAGES STUDENT TEACHING 6 s.h.<br />
Professional practicum requires integration and application of instructional, management, and professional knowledge and<br />
competencies in elementary and secondary school settings. After an orientation to the school setting, the student teaches under the<br />
direction of a cooperating professional and university supervisor. Two field assignments will offer diversity in grade levels K-12<br />
ability levels of pupils, content areas, school and community size, multicultural settings, and/or cooperating professionals.<br />
Prerequisites: Completion of 90 semester hours, satisfactory standing in admission and retention standards in college, completion<br />
of all required professional courses in certification area with a minimum grade of “C,” a cumulative 2.75 QPA, and meeting<br />
university residence requirements. Each semester.<br />
ED 423: LIBRARY PRACTICE IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOL 6 s.h.<br />
Professional practicum requires integration and application of instructional, management, and professional knowledge and<br />
competencies in library settings in secondary schools. After an orientation to the school and library, the student participates in<br />
management, technical services, literary enrichment, and instructional activities under the direction of a cooperating professional<br />
and university supervisor.<br />
ED 424/425: SECONDARY STUDENT TEACHING 6 s.h.<br />
Professional practicum requires integration and application of instructional, management, and professional knowledge and<br />
competencies in library settings in secondary schools. After an orientation to the school and library, students participate in<br />
management, technical services, literary enrichment, and instructional activities under the direction of a cooperating professional<br />
and university supervisor. Two field assignments offer diversity in grade levels, ability levels of pupils, content areas, school and<br />
community size, multicultural settings, and/or cooperating professionals. Prerequisites: Completion of 90 semester hours, satisfactory<br />
standing in admission and retention standards in the college, completion of all required professional courses in certification area<br />
with a minimum of grade of “C,” a cumulative 2.8 QPA, and meeting university residence requirements. Beginning Fall 2005 all<br />
required PRAXIS tests must be passed before student teaching.<br />
ED 426: ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION STUDENT TEACHING 6 s.h.<br />
Professional practicum requires integration and application of instructional, management, and professional knowledge and<br />
competencies in an environmental education setting. After an orientation to the environmental education setting, the student will<br />
teach under the direction of a cooperating professional and university supervisor. Two field assignments will offer diversity in<br />
grade levels, ability levels of pupils, content areas, school and community size, multicultural settings, and/or cooperating<br />
professionals. Prerequisites: Completion of 90 semester hours, satisfactory standing in admission and retention standards in the<br />
college, completion of all required professional courses in certification area with a minimum grade of “C,” a cumulative 2.75 QPA,<br />
and meeting university residence requirements. Each semester.<br />
ED 432/433: STUDENT TEACHING IN MUSIC 6 s.h.<br />
Professional practicum requires integration and application of instructional, management, and professional knowledge and<br />
competencies in music settings in elementary, middle, and secondary schools. After an orientation to the school and music settings,<br />
students teach classes and participate in choral and instrumental music activities under the direction of a cooperating professional<br />
and university supervisor. Two field assignments offer diversity in grade levels K-12 ability levels of pupils, content areas, school<br />
and community size, multicultural settings, and/or cooperating professionals. Prerequisites: Completion of 90 semester hours,<br />
satisfactory standing in admission and retention standards in college, completion of all required professional courses in certification<br />
area with a minimum grade of “C,” a cumulative 2.8 QPA, and meeting university residence requirements. Beginning Fall 2005 all<br />

ED 434/534: WORKSHOP IN EDUCATION 3 s.h.<br />
Provides opportunities for in-service teachers to encounter new ideas, knowledge, and methods in meeting problems in today’s<br />
schools. Prerequisite: Teaching experience in the elementary or secondary schools.<br />
ED 450: INDEPENDENT STUDY 1-3 s.h.<br />
Provides students with opportunity to explore an area of special need or interest in education in-depth, under the supervision of<br />
a member of the department. Students develop a proposed study plan and secure the approval of the proposed director and department<br />
chair before registration. Prerequisite: Junior or senior standing.<br />
