Psychology Department Endowed Scholarship: To be eligible<br />
a student must have completed 64 hours by the end of the current<br />
spring semester with an overall QPA of 3.0. Students must also have<br />
completed 15 hours in Psychology, at least 9 of which must have<br />
been earned at <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Research, departmental service,<br />
and other contributions to the field are strongly considered. Contact<br />
the Psychology Department secretary for further information. Application<br />
deadline is the last Friday of March.<br />
Speech Communication<br />
Dr. Mary R. Hardwick Scholarship: Created to honor Dr. Mary<br />
R. Hardwick, retired speech communication & theatre professor, and<br />
her career as a gifted artist and dedicated educator. The scholarship<br />
is open to students majoring in speech communication (and are not<br />
graduating seniors) with a QPA of 3.0 or higher who have been<br />
active within the department. Contact the chair of Speech Communication<br />

Theater<br />
Fred L. and June McCall Burns & Family Scholarship: This<br />
sophomore year scholarship established by Dr. Max H. Burns in honor<br />
of his parents Fred and June McCall Burns. Current student must be<br />
seeking a degree in Music, Drama or Mathematics or in the Education<br />
fields of Music, Drama or Mathematics, and possess excellent<br />
grades at <strong>Clarion</strong>. Contact the Scholarship Administrator in the Admissions<br />
Office for additional information.<br />
Clarence and Janet Lesser Scholarships: The Lesser Trust Fund<br />
provides scholarships to successful students in the areas of theatre,<br />
art, music, and athletics. High school students who have exhibited<br />
high interest and achievement in these areas are urged to apply. Application<br />
for consideration needs to be submitted prior to April 1.<br />
Selection is based upon talent, academic promise, and leadership<br />
potential. Awards may be continued in subsequent years at the discretion<br />
of the selection committee, subject to the availability of funds. Contact the<br />

Cheri Aharrah Reid Memorial Scholarship: This endowed<br />
scholarship established by Dr. Ernest (’49) and Mrs. Peggy (Berringer<br />
’49) Aharrah in memory of their daughter. Its purpose is to assist<br />
incoming freshman theatre students in the Department of Theatre.<br />
The recipient will be selected on the basis of high school and/or community<br />
Theatre activities deemed worthy of merit. Contact the chair of<br />
the Department of Theatre for additional information at 814-393-2648.<br />
Theatre Scholarships: Awards are available to students who participate<br />
in the <strong>University</strong> Theatre. Criteria for selection are aptitude,<br />
dependability, dedication, talent, and performance promise. Students<br />
selected by the theatre staff. The number and amount may vary from<br />

College of Business Administration<br />
Scholarships<br />
E. Wilson Amsler Endowed Scholarship: An endowed scholarship<br />
established in recognition of E. Wilson Amsler and his many contributions<br />
to the community and the university. The scholarship will<br />
permit the College of Business Administration to recruit and/or support<br />
an outstanding business major. Contact the chair of the College<br />
of Business Administration Scholarship Committee at 814-393-2600<br />
for additional information. Applications must be completed and returned<br />
by March 22.<br />
Donald E. & Bernadette Hugus Crooks Family Scholarship:<br />
This scholarship established by Bernadette (Hugus) and Donald<br />
Crooks for an incoming freshman who demonstrates strong work<br />
ethic and desire to excel. Candidates must be enrolled in the College<br />
of Business Administration with preference given to Marketing majors.<br />
This scholarship award is renewable for up to four years if the<br />
candidate maintains the required academic criteria while majoring<br />
in a program of the College of Business Administration. Student<br />
records are reviewed for this award via their admission materials.<br />
College of Business Administration Essay Contest: Incoming<br />
freshmen majoring in Business Administration are encouraged to<br />
write on selected current business issues. Partial tuition scholarships<br />
and recognition plaques are awarded to these essay winners. Application<br />
deadline is February.<br />
FBLA Scholarship: This $500 scholarship is for an incoming<br />
freshman majoring in Business Administration who is involved with<br />
the Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of America. Contact the<br />
chair of the College of Business Administration Scholarship<br />
Committee at 814-393-2600 for additional information. The award<br />
is made in early Spring.<br />
Edward G. Kriebel Family Scholarship: The purpose of this<br />
scholarship is to attract students who demonstrate entrepreneurial<br />
skills, have the dedication to quality and hard work demonstrated by<br />
the Kriebel family and who demonstrate need not met by federal or<br />
state aid. First preference is given to an AC Valley or Union High<br />
School graduate, second preference to a graduate of other <strong>Clarion</strong><br />
County high schools and last preference to other surrounding area<br />
high schools. This scholarship award is renewable for up to four<br />
years if the candidates maintain the required academic criteria while<br />
majoring in a program of the College of Business Administration.<br />
Student records are reviewed for this award via their admission<br />
materials. FAFSA must be on file.<br />
Charles P. Leach, Sr. Scholarship: This endowed scholarship is<br />
awarded annually to an outstanding business student. Eligible students<br />
must be of at least sophomore standing and are selected on the basis<br />
of academic record, contribution to the College of Business<br />
Administration and the university, and participation in extracurricular<br />
activities such as professional organizations. Application is<br />
made to the chair of the College of Business Administration Scholarship<br />
Committee at 814-393-2600 during the Spring Semester.<br />
