2013 PROGRAM CALENDAR Children & Family TIME OUT TIME! EXPRESSIVE MOVEMENT Tuesday, January 8, 5:30 –6:30 pm Kids Concert Tuesday, February 12, 5:30 –6:30 pm Family Bake-Off Tuesday, March 12, 5:30 –6:30 pm Bubble Party Time Out is designed to give kids a break from the cancer experience. This group provides recreational activities that vary from meeting to meeting and are open to pediatric cancer survivors as well as children who have a cancer diagnosis in the family. RSVP for each meeting is required to ensure enough supplies are available. Our new Expressive Movement group helps children and teens process emotions through the use of movement. Research shows that exercise has many mental and emotional health related benefits. This group gives children and teens the opportunity to reap these benefits through the use of several activities including martial arts, InterPlay, yoga and more. Call for meeting dates/times. Bereavement GOOD GRIEF Thursdays, 5:30 – 7:00 pm CLUB COURAGEOUS Thursdays, 4:30 – 5:30 pm, January 10 –March 14 Club Courageous is a 5-week support group for children ages 6-12 who have been impacted by cancer. Participants will participate in a variety of educational, art and support-based activities to help process their cancer experience. Parents will be invited to attend the final session. TEEN SUPPORT GROUP January 9, January 23, February 6, February 20 and March 6, 6:30 – 8 pm Our Teen Support Group helps teens ages 12-16 whose lives have been impacted by cancer. This group will provide participants with the opportunity to discuss changes they have experienced in their personal, family, and social lives and process their emotions surrounding their journey with cancer. Good Grief is an 11-week time limited group providing education and emotional support for participants of LivingWell who recently experienced the loss of a loved one to cancer. Topics include the stages of grief, coping with holidays and special events, and techniques to help participants grow through the grief process. Group is open to new members during the first two weeks of the quarter. GOOD GRIEF FOR PARENTS Good Grief for Parents is a 5-week bereavement group providing education and emotional support for parents who have lost a child to cancer. Topics include the stages of grief, coping with holidays and special events, and techniques to help parents grow through the grief process. Sessions will be offered for parents who have lost an adult child as well as for parents who have lost a child under the age of 18. To register please contact program coordinator, Laurel Fisher, LPC at LivingWell. Session 1: Wednesdays, January 9 –February 6, 6:30 – 8 pm Open to parents who have lost a child under the age 18 to cancer Session 2: Wednesdays, February 20 –March 13, 6:30 – 8 pm Open to parents who have lost an adult child to cancer ME TOO: CHILDREN’S GRIEF Our Me Too group offers grief support for children ages 6-12 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, relative or friend due to cancer.
