Do film directors watch movies in a different fashion from the average moviegoer What is their definition of a good movie These questions and others will be answered by a few of Iceland’s foremost directors Monday evening, September 21st when they screen their favorite movie to guests of Reykjavík International Film Festival, each in their own living room. Guests will enjoy a rare opportunity to chat about the movie with the directors, after the screening. The Rocky Horror Picture Show er líklega ein af þekktustu miðnæturmyndunum svokölluðu. Hún var upphaflega gerð eftir söngleik sem nefnist einfaldlega The Rocky Horror Show en víða erlendis eru Rocky Horror-leiksýningar þar sem áhorfendur taka þátt í sýningunni daglegt brauð. Fólk klæðir sig í gervi persóna myndarinnar, dansar og tekur undir sönginn. Æðið hefur jafnvel gengið svo langt að nú eru viðurkenndar einskonar „reglur“ um það sem skal gera á ákveðnum stöðum í sýningunni, til dæmis að kasta ristuðu brauði, hrísgrjónum og klósettpappír upp í loft og að sprauta úr vatnsbyssum á fólk. Alþjóðleg kvikmyndahátíð í Reykjavík býður nú upp á sýningu af þessu tagi. Það er því rétt að hafa málninguna klára, túbera hárið og búa sig undir eftirminnilegt kvöld! Leikfélag Akureyrar sýnir atriði úr uppsetningu sinni á Rocky Horror fyrir sýningu myndarinnar. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is probably the best-known midnight movie of all time. Originally adapted from the musical The Rocky Horror Show, the film has gained a huge international fan base and still continues to do so, even after thirty years of cinema screenings. Rocky Horror shows are extensively popular and many have acknowledged audience participation as their main attraction. People are given the opportunity to parttake in the action by singing and dancing at the right moments, which surely develops a unique atmosphere. The phenomenon became so titanic that in time it was inexorable to fabricate some rules of engagement, to frame the game. Amongst many is the habit of throwing various objects such as toilet paper, toast and rice – only to name a handful. RIFF has come to the conclusion that it’s time for Iceland to be a part of this culture and so we recommend starting to figure out a costume, strapping on some leather and trumping up a wig ASAP– you don’t want to be the only one not wearing any!
