L abour Department’s job fair at the Fu<br />
Tung Shopping Centre, supported by <strong>The</strong><br />
<strong>Link</strong>, provided hundreds of employment<br />
opportunities to job seekers on Lantau Island.<br />

Our shopping centres are community hubs, places where<br />
families gather and neighbours come together. In many<br />
ways, our centres are an extension of people’s homes.<br />
As a vital part of the neighbourhoods we serve, we are<br />
committed to being a good corporate citizen. In this respect,<br />
we have undertaken a series of activities to serve the<br />
community.<br />
Enlivening Our Neighbourhoods<br />
Our asset enhancement work, a key business initiative<br />
encompassing enhancements in trade-mix, customer<br />
service, promotional activities and hardware facilities, has<br />
not only rejuvenated our properties but also created more<br />
job opportunities for our communities.<br />
<strong>The</strong> success of the asset enhancement projects can be<br />
evidenced from the surveys conducted during the year<br />
whereby the majority of the interviewees believed that the<br />
work has benefited nearby residents by bringing greater<br />
convenience and also contributed to the neighbourhood’s<br />
economic vibrancy and ambience.<br />
Providing Platforms for Stronger Community<br />
Apart from providing enjoyable environments for shopping<br />
and leisure, our portfolio serves as a platform for us to give<br />
back to the communities we operate in. In recognition for<br />
our efforts in this area, we were presented with the “Devoted<br />
Sponsorship and Promotion Award” by the Social Welfare<br />
Department.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Manager grants regular rent-free access to our<br />
promotion venues to community groups, thereby<br />
facilitating them to host many activities with worthwhile<br />
causes. <strong>The</strong>se events cover a wide range of causes from<br />
promoting community well-being by raising funds for the<br />
needy, to enriching cultural life and increasing health and<br />
environmental awareness.<br />
We are also committed to making necessary welfare services<br />
available in the neighbourhood by designating a portion of<br />
our retail space for non-profit making organisations which<br />
are charged at concessionary rent. Approximately 8.4% or<br />
85,400 square metres of our total lettable internalfloor area<br />
comprises of welfare letting at concessionary rents.
