treatment between women and men as well as nondiscrimination
dating back to 1971. The basic facts of
each case are presented as well as the questions asked
to the Court and its final judgment. The first section
of the publication addresses equal treatment between
men and women and the second part focuses on nondiscrimination
cases.

The recent financial crisis has brought to light the lack
of women in economic decision-making positions
in Europe. In banking, business, politics and public
administrations men continue to outnumber women
in senior positions despite the increased number of
women among university graduates and in the labour
market.
This report examines the current situation and trends
and also considers ways in which the advancement of
women can be supported and accelerated to get more
women in senior positions.
