Appealing a
WSIB decision
Can the time limits for appealing
a decision be extended
The WSIB can extend the time limit in appropriate
cases, such as when exceptional personal circumstances
have made it impossible to appeal within the time
limits. Examples of exceptional personal circumstances
can include
■ serious health problems experienced by the
individual or his or her immediate family, or
■ the individual leaves the province or country
due to the ill health or death of a family
member.
Where can I get assistance
in an appeal
Contact the Office of the Employer Adviser. For
the nearest location, call 1-800-387-0774 or visit their
Web site at www.gov.on.ca/lab/oea. Representation in
disputes is available for employers with fewer than
100 employees. Advice and information products are
available for all employers. The cost of these services
is covered by your WSIB administration charge.

Adviser. For the nearest location, call 1-800-435-8980
or visit their Web site at www.gov.on.ca/lab/owa.
These services are free of charge and are available
to non-unionized workers or their survivors.
