Appealing a<br />

WSIB decision<br />

Can the time limits for appealing<br />

a decision be extended<br />

The WSIB can extend the time limit in appropriate<br />

cases, such as when exceptional personal circumstances<br />

have made it impossible to appeal within the time<br />

limits. Examples of exceptional personal circumstances<br />

can include<br />

■ serious health problems experienced by the<br />

individual or his or her immediate family, or<br />

■ the individual leaves the province or country<br />

due to the ill health or death of a family<br />

member.<br />

Where can I get assistance<br />

in an appeal<br />

Contact the Office of the Employer Adviser. For<br />

the nearest location, call 1-800-387-0774 or visit their<br />

Web site at www.gov.on.ca/lab/oea. Representation in<br />

disputes is available for employers with fewer than<br />

100 employees. Advice and information products are<br />

available for all employers. The cost of these services<br />

is covered by your WSIB administration charge.<br />

Adviser. For the nearest location, call 1-800-435-8980<br />

or visit their Web site at www.gov.on.ca/lab/owa.<br />

These services are free of charge and are available<br />

to non-unionized workers or their survivors.<br />
