astoral toral Administration Program<br />
Initiated in 2006, the pastoral administration<br />
program was developed in response to<br />
archdiocesan needs. It is a graduate track<br />
designed to build upon a student’s prior formation<br />
in theology and pastoral ministry. <strong>The</strong> program<br />
allows lay and ordained participants to enhance<br />
skills in pastoral leadership and administrative<br />
ministry. It includes both academics and formation<br />
and allows for flexibility in course selection to meet<br />
student needs.<br />
Studies would lead to:<br />
Advanced Graduate Certificate in Pastoral<br />
Administration for students entering with an<br />
MAPM, MAT or equivalent graduate degree in<br />
theology or pastoral ministry, or<br />
Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Pastoral<br />
Administration for students entering with a BA<br />
(in any area) and the LPMP Certificate (or<br />
equivalent).<br />
Admission<br />
A participant must apply for admission to the<br />
Pastoral Administration Program through the<br />
LPMP office. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Athenaeum</strong> Admissions and<br />
Degrees Committee will make decisions regarding<br />
acceptance prior to each academic quarter.<br />
Program Components<br />
1) Three graduate credits are required in each<br />
of four areas for a total of 12 credit hours:<br />
- Worship/Liturgy<br />
- Catechesis/Formation<br />
- Human Resources in Pastoral Ministry<br />
- Financial Resources in Pastoral Ministry<br />
2) Electives: 3 credits selected in consultation<br />
with program advisor<br />
3) Three-credit Leadership Seminar.<br />
Spiritual and Ministerial Formation:<br />
- Yearly attendance at a day of reflection or<br />
retreat<br />
- Participation in required <strong>The</strong>ological Reflection<br />
sessions<br />
- Regular meetings with an approved spiritual<br />
director<br />
<strong>The</strong>se components provide opportunities for<br />
personal and spiritual growth. <strong>The</strong>y help participants<br />
integrate scripture, tradition and theology<br />
while responding more effectively to ministerial<br />
challenges.<br />
Pastoral Care: Supervised experience of at least<br />
100 hours in pastoral care ministry is required for<br />
completion of the program. Students may submit<br />
evidence of prior or current experience or may<br />
complete this component concurrently with courses.<br />
Academic: A total of 18 quarter credits hours is<br />
required. <strong>The</strong>se are distributed as follows.<br />
