PDS 314 Theology of the Body
In a series of audiences Pope John Paul
II developed the theme of the fundamental
relational character of human
existence. John Paul II discusses who
man was in the beginning, who he is now
(after original sin), and who he will be in
the age to come. He then applies this
message to the vocations of marriage and
celibacy, in preparation for the Kingdom of
Heaven. It is from our understanding of
the human person as a relational being
that we come to find the meaning of
human life. While understanding our
relational nature impacts the whole of
human life it is particularly relevant for
understanding human sexuality, marriage,
friendship, and our relationship with God.
