ARTIST OF
THE WEEK
“I want to thank
everyone in the
community for
your support
of the arts. I
love having the
opportunity to
show you my
art and connect
with you in
this way.”
– Susan Cohen
Thompson
Susan Cohen Thompson
This is Thompson’s seventh year living on Camano Island since moving
from the East Coast. “I feel fully Northwest now. Camano Island is more
open than the Massachusetts landscape was. In response, my paintings
are becoming less dense. I have shifted from working primarily in watercolor
to painting in oil on canvas. I am enjoying re-inventing my personal
style with oil paint. The silvery light off the water has connected with my
core. Living next to the State Park has etched the forest deep into my
heart and mind. My statement of interconnectedness with nature remains
a consistent theme.” Susan’s art will be featured as part of “CAMANO
HONORS EARTH”, a collaborative event and art exhibition taking place at
Matzke Fine Art Gallery and Sculpture Park on Camano Island. This exhibition
brings art, environment and community together to celebrate nature.
More info about the event will be posted on the website: www.camanohonorsearth.org.
Thompson opens her studio to the public each year for
the Camano Island Studio Tour in May. You can also visit her studio by
appointment year-round and see some of her works at Matzke Gallery every
weekend. The studio tour is a great event that makes Camano Island a
place where creative visions and the beauty of Earth are brought together
for us to share. It is a delight to have so many of you visit my studio during
the tour. “Thank you!” Visit Susan’s website - www.art-connects-nature.
com for more information and come to CAMANO HONORS EARTH.
