MOM & SON ART EXHIBIT
Seagrass Gallery is proud to present an exhibit of acrylic paintings by Jed
Dorsey and his mom, Ann Cory, now on display at the newest Islander’s Restaurant
located at the Stanwood Cinemas. The exhibit continues through
September. Jed Dorsey is an emerging artist born into a very artistic family.
Much of his training has come from his father, Jack Dorsey, a noted watercolorist,
and teacher. Jed is carving out his own style in acrylics. Ann Cory
Dodgson Dorsey paints under the name “Ann Cory.” Ann had the privilege
of watching her grandmother paint and illustrate on a daily basis while
she was growing up. Also during these years, Ann was an active member
of a family painting “club” (known as the “Grunt and Groan Club”) - which
included her famous grandmother and other talented family members.
Ann married Jack Dorsey and has learned informally from him through the
years. Ann and Jed are represented on Camano Island by Seagrass Gallery,
where you can always see more of their work and that of many other talented
regional artisans. You can always enjoy great food and outstanding
artwork at Islanders Restaurant at the Stanwood Cinemas, 6996 - 265th St
NW, Stanwood 98292; and at their Camano Island location at Terry’s Corner,
848 N Sunrise Blvd (where you can also enjoy the watercolors of Melanie
Serroels through September).
CEDARHOME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FAMILY FUN DAY
On Saturday, September 18, from 12pm-4pm, the Cedarhome Elementary
School PTA is hosting the first annual Cedarhome Family Fun Day at Cedarhome
Elementary School. This event will be a fun and exciting way for our
community to come together and become more knowledgeable about the
fabulous children and family resources available in our local area. For the
fun part we have bouncy houses, slides and obstacle courses scheduled.
We’re also looking for as many interesting vehicles we can find for the kids
to look at and climb on or through. For the education we would like area
businesses and groups to come and share information about the services
they provide for children and families. Would you be interested in participating
This is a no cost opportunity for you. We ask that you provide your
own table, chairs and material to hand out.
