into a serial lead suitable for interface to a SALCOM 11-72 NRZ
transmitter or similar.
Serial communication with the computer is 9600, N, 8, 1 and the baud
rate and level of the message sent to the transmitter is determined by
the syntax of the serial message.
Example:
Response:
CN119358 1 777
CN01193581
Extended SALCOM protocol: The 12-06 also supports extended Salcom
Protocol directly into the serial port.
Message format
[Message type][RIC][Level][Message]
The 12-06 will handle up to 200 characters of message. A PET
password is not needed.
The red light on the case lights on PTT.
Message: A message string that should be composed of
characters appropriate to the message type. The message string
may be up to 220 characters in length.
: A carriage return (ASCII 13).
For example, to send a 1200 baud, level 3, alphanumeric page to
pager 367543, with non-inverted data with a message of "Hello
Bob" the following string would be sent:
CA367543 6 Hello Bob
(STX=ASCII 2) PET/TAP
Errors in PET conversion return:
“Disconnected”
Send an at any time in the conversation to abort.
Send to confirm a reset. It should return “ID=” if ready.
PET PROTOCOL LEVEL AND ALPHANUMERIC STATUS
PET can support the addressing of AlphaNumeric and Numeric pagers
plus Pager Levels. This is achieved by following the calculations and
example in the table below.
By adding the values in the table the "on-air" RIC and level can be
controlled.
RIC + 0 Alphanumeric, level 1
RIC + 2097152 Numeric, level 1
RIC + 4194304 Alphanumeric, level 2
RIC + 6291456 Numeric, level 2
RIC + 8388608 Alphanumeric, level 3
RIC + 10485760 Numeric, level 3
RIC + 12582912 Alphanumeric, level 4
RIC + 14680064 Numeric, level 4
Example: 4194312 = RIC8 at alpha level 2
(8+4194304)
