Required Readings<br />
List of those readings deemed essential to the intern’s child life knowledge base in order for<br />
them to understand and perform this skill at an entry level, and qualify successfully for skill<br />
verification.<br />
Suggested Readings<br />
Readings that would enhance the intern’s knowledge base and skills, especially for those<br />
interns who:<br />

Have academic training specifically as child life students, and have pre‐read the<br />
required material; or,<br />
Have quickly demonstrated knowledge and skill in this topic and desire further depth<br />
or knowledge base.<br />
Optional Activities for Additional Skill Enhancement<br />
Activities that are not requisite, but will serve to enhance the growth of those interns who<br />
desire more in‐depth or complex experiences, or experiences not available in the setting.<br />
May also include activities that could serve to enhance the growth of students who learn best<br />
by specific methods (i.e., visual, auditory, etc.).<br />
Module Order and Rate of Completion<br />
The modules are numbered in a specific order, so that learning and skill demonstration can be<br />
scaffolded from one to the next and so on. Each module requires activities that utilize the<br />
intern’s knowledge base, build skills and encourage self‐reflection.<br />
