Organizational Announcement
Bobby Ellis has accepted the position of support
center manager. Ellis received his associate’s degree in
computer information systems from Columbia State and
is pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee
State University in information technology. He has been
an employee since February, and most recently served as
a support tech.
“Bobby has shown great initiative since being employed
at the medical center. His professional background,
patient focus and customer service perspective make him well suited for this
management position,” said Nick Swift, chief financial officer.
Trever Hawkins, RN, has accepted the position of
mother/baby nurse manager. Hawkins received her bachelor’s
degree in nursing from Middle Tennessee State University
and is pursuing a master’s degree from Tennessee
State University. She has been an employee at the
medical center for 14 years, serving as a charge nurse in
various units.
“Trever’s years of experience and her passion for
mothers and babies will prove as great assets to the facility.
We are grateful for her leadership,” said Diane Perry, administrative director
of women’s, children’s and oncology services.
Online Payment and Drive-Through
Services Offered
For the convenience of customers, MRMC is now offering online bill payment
as well as a drive-through service at the Annex located across the street
from the medical center, according to Chief Financial Officer Nick Swift.
“It was important to us that we provide our customers with more options
that are convenient and accessible,” said Swift. “People lead busy lives and
our goal is to make doing business with the medical center a little easier.”
To pay a bill online, simply go to mauryregional.com. An icon appears on
the home page in the blue column on the left. By selecting this option, you will
go to a safe and secure site to view your account charges and pay your bill.
On the initial visit, a customer will set up an account with a password that they
determine. Once an account has been activated, the customer can access it
at any time for viewing account activity.
For those who prefer to pay a bill in person, the cashier’s office has moved
to the Annex, which offers convenient parking and drive-through service. The
Annex is located at 1223½ Trotwood Avenue near McDonald’s. Office and
drive-through hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Patient Accounts Director Kirby Hedrick stated, “In addition to making
payments more convenient, we have patient account representatives available
at the Annex to answer questions and assist individuals in managing
their accounts. We believe that customers will find our new customer-friendly
location beneficial in meeting their needs.”
Foundation News
Annual Fund-Raising Drive Kicked-Off
The annual fund-raising drive for The Maury Regional
Health Care Foundation and the United Way
of Maury County began in October with a footballthemed
kick-off event held on the front lawn. This
year’s slogan is “Support The Home Team!” At the
kick-off, hundreds of employees received a free tailgate
lunch and learned more about specific foundation
funds and how past donations have been used
to help patients and their fellow employees.
Pictured is Terri Fogg, foundation
administrative secretary,
hosting an informational
booth at the event.
Since the kick-off, several mini fund-raisers
have been held such as a bake sale, popcorn
party, pumpkin carving contest and ice cream sale.
Drawings have been held every week for those who
make a pledge to either organization. The winner of
two tickets to the Saints vs. Steelers game in New Orleans with overnight accommodations
was Deb Brown, RN, Sixth West.
“The Annual Drive Committee set this year’s fund-raising goal at $100,000,”
said Foundation Executive Director Joe Kilgore. “To date, we have had more
employee participation than in previous years, and employees have already
surpassed what they pledged last year. We are well on our way to meeting
our goal. Thank you for your enthusiasm and compassion for our patients and
employees.”
the medical staff, Nursing, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Quality Services and Food
to accreditation and how MRMC developed inpatient education tools as
well as post-discharge follow-up to reduce readmission rates and improve
our evidenced-based score. The efforts outlined on this poster contributed to
MRMC attaining CHF accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers
care is a critical step in preventing
recurrent hospitalizations and prolonging
the lives of heart failure patients,”
said Lee H. Schwamm, M.D., chair of
the Get With The Guidelines National
Steering Committee and director of the
TeleStroke and Acute Stroke Services
at Massachusetts General Hospital in
Boston, Massachusetts. “The goal of
the American Heart Association’s Get
With The Guidelines program is to
help hospitals like MRMC implement
appropriate evidence-based care and
protocols that will reduce disability
and the number of deaths in these patients.
Published scientific studies are
providing us with more and more evidence
that Get With The Guidelines
works. Patients are getting the right
care they need when they need it.
That’s resulting in improved survival.”
Get With The Guidelines–Heart
Failure helps MRMC’s staff develop
and implement acute and secondary
prevention guideline processes. The
program includes quality-improvement
measures such as care maps,
discharge protocols, standing orders
and measurement tools. This quick
and efficient use of guideline tools
will enable MRMC to improve the
quality of care it provides heart failure
patients, save lives and ultimately
reduce health care costs by lowering
the recurrence of heart attacks.
