Fuel System Secondary Filter - Replace<br />

Spin-on filter<br />

Turn the valves for the fuel lines (if equipped) to the<br />

OFF position before performing this maintenance.<br />

Place a tray under the fuel filter in order to catch<br />

any fuel that might spill. Clean up any spilled fuel<br />

immediately.<br />

3. Remove the filter bowl (1) from the filter head<br />

(3). Press on the element (4). Rotate the element<br />

counterclockwise in order to release the element<br />

for the filter bowl <strong>and</strong> remove the element from the<br />

bowl. Discard the used element.<br />

4. Remove the O ring (5) from the filter bowl <strong>and</strong><br />

clean the filter bowl. Check that the threads of the<br />

filter bowl are not damaged.<br />

5. Install a new O ring seal (5) to the filter bowl (1).<br />

6. Locate a new filter element (4) into the filter bowl<br />

(1). Press on the element <strong>and</strong> rotate the element<br />

clockwise in order to lock the element into the<br />

filter bowl.<br />

7. Install the filter bowl (1) into the top of the filter<br />

head (3).<br />

8. Tighten the filter bowl by h<strong>and</strong> until the filter bowl<br />

contacts the filter head. Rotate the filter bowl<br />

through 90 degrees.<br />

1. Clean the outside of the fuel filter assembly. Open<br />

the fuel drain (3) <strong>and</strong> drain the fuel into a suitable<br />

container.<br />

2. Use a suitable tool in order to remove the spin-on<br />

filter (2) from the filter head (1).<br />

3. Ensure that the fuel drain (3) on the new spin-on<br />

filter is closed.<br />

Note: Do not use a tool to tighten the filter bowl.<br />

9. Open the valves for the fuel lines (if equipped).
