Revenue is allocated based on the country in which the business is operated and non-current assets<br />

other than deferred tax assets are allocated based on the location of the assets.<br />

5 Provision for impairment of goodwill and other assets<br />

The amount in the current year represented a provision for impairment of goodwill of the Internet<br />

<strong>Group</strong> of HK$421,201,000. This provision was made as a result of the decline in operating<br />

environment and overall lower industry valuations of the <strong>Group</strong>’s wireless value-added services<br />

and traditional portal operation in Mainland China (2010: provision for impairment of goodwill<br />

of HK$2,614,000 and available-for-sale financial assets of HK$8,900,000 relating to the Outdoor<br />

Media <strong>Group</strong>).<br />
