MRS. LOUIS WILSON KERR<br />

Mrs. Jayne Bartlett Kerr, daughter <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Warren S.<br />
and Louisa F. Bartlett, was born January 8, 1879, at<br />
Marshall, Ill<strong>in</strong>ois. Her early life was spent <strong>in</strong> Marshall,<br />
where dur<strong>in</strong>g her girlhood days she <strong>display</strong>ed <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> trait<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> leadership, so essential <strong>in</strong> her work <strong>in</strong> later years.<br />
She was married <strong>on</strong> May 12, 1898, to Louis Wils<strong>on</strong><br />
Kerr <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Chicago, Ill<strong>in</strong>ois, who preceded her <strong>in</strong> death.<br />
She is survived by <strong>on</strong>e s<strong>on</strong>, Louis B. Kerr, <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Philadelphia,<br />
Pennsylvania, and <strong>on</strong>e sister, Mrs. Curtis B. Wils<strong>on</strong><br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Hutt<strong>on</strong>, Indiana.<br />
Mrs. Kerr was very active throughout her life<br />
club work, and was a member <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Ill<strong>in</strong>ois State Historical<br />
Society, Daughters <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> American Revoluti<strong>on</strong>,<br />
Daughters <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> American Col<strong>on</strong>ists, Abraham L<strong>in</strong>coln<br />
Chapter <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Eastern Star, and <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Bus<strong>in</strong>ess and<br />
Pr<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>essi<strong>on</strong>al Woman's Club.<br />
Mrs. Kerr served <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> staff <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> State Tuberculosis<br />
Associati<strong>on</strong> as Field Secretary for seven years,<br />
beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g her work <strong>in</strong> that capacity <strong>in</strong> 1919. She had<br />
much to do with promoti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Christmas Seal campaigns,<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> plann<strong>in</strong>g <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> cl<strong>in</strong>ics and development <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> open<br />
air hospitals. Her greatest joy was found <strong>in</strong> giv<strong>in</strong>g comfort<br />
and relief to those afflicted with tuberculosis. Because<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> her efficiency, she was appo<strong>in</strong>ted as Executive<br />
Secretary <strong>in</strong> 1926, <strong>in</strong> which capacity she served until her<br />
death.<br />
Mrs. Jayne Bartlett Kerr died July 16, 1929.<br />

The<br />
funeral services were held <strong>in</strong> Marshall, Ill<strong>in</strong>ois, July 18,<br />
1929, at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> C<strong>on</strong>gregati<strong>on</strong>al church. Interment was <strong>in</strong><br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Marshall Cemetery.
