MRS. LOUIS WILSON KERR
(Jayne Bartlett)
Mrs. Jayne Bartlett Kerr, daughter <strong>of</strong> Warren S.
and Louisa F. Bartlett, was born January 8, 1879, at
Marshall, Illinois. Her early life was spent in Marshall,
where during her girlhood days she displayed <strong>the</strong> trait
<strong>of</strong> leadership, so essential in her work in later years.
She was married on May 12, 1898, to Louis Wilson
Kerr <strong>of</strong> Chicago, Illinois, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Louis B. Kerr, <strong>of</strong> Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, and one sister, Mrs. Curtis B. Wilson
<strong>of</strong> Hutton, Indiana.
Mrs. Kerr was very active throughout her life
club work, and was a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Illinois State Historical
Society, Daughters <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> American Revolution,
Daughters <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> American Colonists, Abraham Lincoln
Chapter <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Eastern Star, and <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Business and
Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Woman's Club.
Mrs. Kerr served on <strong>the</strong> staff <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State Tuberculosis
Association as Field Secretary for seven years,
beginning her work in that capacity in 1919. She had
much to do with promotion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Christmas Seal campaigns,
<strong>the</strong> planning <strong>of</strong> clinics and development <strong>of</strong> open
air hospitals. Her greatest joy was found in giving comfort
and relief to those afflicted with tuberculosis. Because
<strong>of</strong> her efficiency, she was appointed as Executive
Secretary in 1926, in which capacity she served until her
death.
Mrs. Jayne Bartlett Kerr died July 16, 1929.

funeral services were held in Marshall, Illinois, July 18,
1929, at <strong>the</strong> Congregational church. Interment was in
<strong>the</strong> Marshall Cemetery.
