Improved customers access to project information and collaboration by<br />

expanding the use of Microsoft’s SharePoint collaboration software;<br />

Implemented a token-less secure remote network access system; this<br />

allowed SHA to save over $7,600 in fees for replacement tokens that are<br />

now not needed;<br />

Implemented photocopier reductions that totaled $100,000;<br />

Implemented cell phone reductions that totaled $25,000;<br />

Achieved a savings of more than $200,000 by capping onsite contractors to<br />

limited number of hours from September through December 2009 in<br />

anticipation of assisting SHA with winter storm costs;<br />

Took a leadership role in MDOT computer hardware procurement that<br />

saved more than $100,000 over the amount spent for the same number of<br />

units in FY 2009;<br />

Saved about $154,000 on software and software maintenance costs<br />

through licensing consolidation and server reduction efforts;<br />

Implemented automated IT security procedures for account lockouts as per<br />

MDOT and Department of Information Technology revised security<br />

standards on all SHA IT-managed Oracle databases;<br />

Published a link to the national Freecycle.org from the SHA Intranet to<br />

continue and enhance SHA’s commitment to environmental stewardship<br />

and awareness;<br />

Developed a service level agreement on the Automated Hauling Permits<br />

System, the most critical application, that required a recovery time<br />

objective of less than 16 hours;<br />

Implemented email-based faxing in order to eliminate phone/fax lines.<br />
