DXconsole Command Shortcuts If you frequently use a command, or a set of commands, then store the commands in a file and execute that file. Databases Databases eTrust Directory consists of two major components. These are the DSA process and its underlying database. The DSA process is the X.500/LDAP directory object and protocol processing system and the database is used to store and retrieve the dismantled directory objects (entries) in the specially designed database tables. You can use the DSA process as a router engine, or configure it to be responsible for a portion (or all) of the DIT. When a DSA process is not acting just as a directory protocol router (for distribution or alternate, load balancing DSAs), it should be considered as a process that is responsible for a DIT Namespace. Set Database Name When starting, the DSA process needs to know the name of the database it should access. This value is usually set in a database initialization file using the command: set database-name = databaseName; where databaseName is the name of an RDBMS database. See The Directory Information Base in the chapter “General Administration” for more information about setting database names. Multiple DSA Processes to One DIT/DIB More than one DSA can access the same X.500 DIT/DIB database (for example, to provide load sharing and increased user counts). There is no possibility of database inconsistency because the database management system enforces full locking controls. When multiple DSAs on the same machine access the same database, you must configure each DSA with unique listening addresses within their knowledge files.
