YEAR 7 (2013) INFORMATION NIGHT
Students who will be entering Year 7 next year
and their parents attended an information night on
October 30th. This was the second information
session for this year and was well attended which
was great for everyone who had spent time
organising sessions and activities for the evening.
The night enabled Year 7 students to report on
their activities and achievements for the year
whilst also allowing parents to speak to Head
Teachers about curriculum and learning at Kelso
High.
WELCOME TO YEAR 7 OF 2012
As the Year 7 Year Adviser I would like to welcome all the
new students to Denison College - Kelso High Campus.
The students quickly learnt about their timetables, the
layout of the school and the bell times. They soon settled
in and looked like they had been at high school for months
rather than just a few hours.
Students who took part in iLEARN already had a good
idea about where to go and who their teachers were,
which goes to prove what a positive program iLEARN is to
help student’s transition from primary school to high
school.
All Year 7 students were invited to the Lake Burrendong
Camp which took place between the 27 th - 29 th February.
The camp was a great experience for students and helped
them develop their social skills and their independence
while experiencing new activities.
The new Year 7 students have brought their energy to
the school and have entered high school with a positive
work ethic and a desire to learn. .

Parents also had an opportunity to purchase
uniforms, book packs and commence payment for
the Year 7 camp in February next year.
Ms Windsor was introduced as the Year 7 advisor
and spoke about her role. She was certainly the
most popular staff member on the night with many
parents wanting to speak to her about their child.
Ms Grives spoke about being an ex- student who
has returned as a teacher. The special place that
Kelso High holds in her heart and the bond she
has with the school, particularly ex-teachers and
some current staff who have had an impact on her.
Ms Kiri Armstrong spoke about P&C and its
importance in the school. The importance of a
strong P&C was highlighted by Kiri with the hope
that parents would engage and take the time to be
involved.
Bathurst Businesses were also present for the first
time at one of our information sessions. It proved
to be a successful addition with many parents
accessing information on the night. Cirkus Surreal
performed on the night which was a hit as usual
with students and ex-students performing a variety
of activities.
