Etah-Nan & Co is a bilingual (French and English) law firm established in 1984. <strong>The</strong> firm<br />
presently has five partners, four associates and four pupil advocates. This makes <strong>the</strong> firm one<br />
of <strong>the</strong> biggest by prevailing local comparison. Some of <strong>the</strong> partners in <strong>the</strong> firm are civil<br />
(French lawyers) while o<strong>the</strong>rs specialized in comparative law (English and French law).<br />
Etah-Nan & Co is principally involved on legal, tax advisory services to corporate entities and<br />
state corporation, and also practices general litigation. Over <strong>the</strong> years, <strong>the</strong> firm’s expansion<br />
has been facilitated by its collaboration with o<strong>the</strong>r legal consultancy <strong>firms</strong> in South Africa,<br />
Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Europe, America and Asia. <strong>The</strong> firm is a member of Lex Africa, an<br />
association of corporate and commercial law <strong>firms</strong> in Africa, having representatives in many<br />
of <strong>the</strong> main cities in Africa, with a management office located in WERKSMAN’s (Attorneys) in<br />
Johannesburg. <strong>The</strong> firm handles many referral assignments in Cameroon for major law firm<br />
around <strong>the</strong> world.<br />

David Etah Akoh has been managing partner of <strong>the</strong> firm since 1985.<br />
He was born on <strong>the</strong> 29 th of October 1958 in Atibong in <strong>the</strong> Republic<br />
of Cameroon. He holds an LLB (Hons) Degree and a Post Graduate<br />
Diploma (Maîtrise) in <strong>Law</strong>. His main areas of practice in <strong>the</strong> firm are<br />
petroleum law, mining law, banking and finance, investment law,<br />
telecoms, land law, competition law and energy.<br />
He currently heads <strong>the</strong> firm’s practice in petroleum law, mining,<br />
banking and finance, and telecoms. Over <strong>the</strong> past few years, David<br />
has been involved in almost all <strong>the</strong> syndicated loans transactions in<br />
Cameroon. He regularly advises investors on critical issues relating<br />
to <strong>the</strong> Petroleum Code and its regulations and also <strong>the</strong> Mining Code<br />
and its regulations. He has been highly involved in discussions with<br />
<strong>the</strong> government of Cameroon for <strong>the</strong> acquisition by foreign investors<br />
of land for major agro-industrial projects. He has written several<br />
articles on telecoms law, mining law and public private partnership<br />
in Cameroon.
