DISCHARGE OF “WET” INDUSTRIAL EFFLUENT<br />

(Industries which use or generate a considerable quantity of <strong>water</strong>)<br />

The owner of or occupier of premises on which any trade or industry identified by the Concessionaire as a “wet” trade or industry, is<br />

carried out <strong>and</strong> from which as a result of such trade or industry or of any process incidental thereto, any effluent is discharged into the<br />

sewer, shall in addition to the fixed Charges set out in table 1.2.1 for which he is liable in terms of this determination, pay to the<br />

Concessionaire in place of the variable Charges set out in table 1.2.2 an amount calculated on the quantity of <strong>water</strong> consumed during<br />

the period <strong>and</strong> in accordance with the Treatment Charge Formula <strong>and</strong> the Disincentive Formula set out hereunder -<br />

Treatment Charge Formula<br />

To = C(Q i )/(Qt)(0,31 + 0,22Kc + 0,27Ks +0,20Kn)<br />

Where<br />

To = Charges due by an individual contributor<br />

C = Total capital redemption, interest, operation <strong>and</strong> maintenance cost of the sewage treatment works set by the<br />

Concessionaire<br />

Qi = Sewage flow from an individual contributor (megalitre per day)<br />

Qt = Total sewage flow in the system (megalitre per day)<br />

Kc = COD i /COD t<br />

Ks = SSi/SSt<br />

Kn = Ni/Nt<br />

COD i = Chemical oxygen dem<strong>and</strong> of the settled sewage originating from the contributor (milligrams per litre)<br />
