video cameras, videotapes, tape players and recorders, overhead projectors, and transparencies,<br />

etc. The Committee shall make every effort to maintain all such equipment in full working<br />

condition at all times.<br />

4-8.6. Computers with Internet access and photocopy machines shall be available in<br />

each school for the use of teachers preparing instructional materials.<br />

4-8.7. The necessary books, supplies and equipment to run a classroom shall be<br />

available in each classroom on the first day of school insofar as the materials have<br />

been received from companies supplying them.<br />

4-8.8. Where practical, teachers shall be provided ample, off-street parking area for their<br />

automobiles.<br />

4-8.9. In all new construction and/or renovations to present schools, teachers shall be<br />

provided a special lunch area and, when this is not a regular lunchroom, facilities<br />

for warming, refrigeration, and storing food shall be provided.<br />

4-8.10. Each teacher shall be provided with a suitable desk, chair, file cabinet and<br />

adequate space for storing materials safely.<br />

4-9. Scholarship Standards<br />

4-9.1. The marks of a teacher entered in the pupil’s record represent his/her evaluative<br />

judgment of the pupil’s work. The teacher shall be considered to be expert in evaluating the work<br />

of the student and his/her integrity in marking the pupil shall be respected. The mark given by<br />

the teacher shall not be changed by another person unless by joint agreement of the teacher and<br />

his/her immediate supervisor.<br />

4-9.2. The Administrator will not set any limit on the number of pupils who pass or fail.<br />

Nothing in this agreement is intended to limit, however, the right of administration to establish<br />

expectations for teachers to address the needs of identified subgroups.<br />

4-10. Interruptions<br />

Classroom interruptions are to be permitted only in case of an emergency.<br />

4-11. Curriculum and Textbook Selection<br />

4-11.1. <strong>Teacher</strong>s and curriculum coordinators shall receive notice when a curriculum<br />

committee of textbook selection is to be established. <strong>Teacher</strong>s will be solicited to submit<br />

recommendations in their area of instruction.<br />
