material. The teacher shall acknowledge that he/she has read such materials by affixing his/her<br />

signature on the actual copy to be filed with the understanding that such signature merely<br />

signifies that he/she has read the material to be filed. Such signature does not necessarily<br />

indicate agreement with its contents. The teacher shall have the right to answer any material<br />

filed and his/her answer shall be attached to the file copy. The maker of the file must affix<br />

his/her signature to it.<br />

4-14.3. No matters pertaining to the grievance procedure shall be included in a teacher’s<br />

file, nor shall any such matter be consulted in decisions regarding re-employment, promotions,<br />

assignment, or transfer.<br />

4-14.4. Any teacher shall be permitted to examine and reproduce material in his/her file,<br />

except for recommendations or evaluations related to the process of evaluating the teacher for<br />

initial employment or subsequent promotions which were submitted to the School Committee or<br />

the Superintendent on a confidential basis.<br />

4-14.5. Any complaints regarding a teacher made to the administration by any parent,<br />

student, or any other person will promptly be called to the attention of the teacher.<br />

4-14.6. No teacher will be disciplined, reprimanded, reduced in rank or compensation or<br />

deprived of any professional advantage without just cause. Whether just cause exists in any case<br />

shall be subject to the grievance procedure.<br />

4-15. General Working Conditions<br />

4-15.1. The Superintendent of <strong>Schools</strong> shall prepare job descriptions for all positions,<br />

administrative and supervisory in nature, which affect teachers. The job descriptions shall have a<br />

clear definition of the responsibilities of each administrator or supervisor as they affect the<br />

teachers.<br />

When the teachers are responsible to more than one supervisor, they shall be advised by<br />

their principal of the exact division of such responsibility. The job descriptions of these<br />

administrative and advisory positions as they relate to teachers shall be made available to<br />

teachers and other members of the staff and shall be posted on the Alliance bulletin board.<br />

4-15.2. Principals shall post a school organization chart showing the lines of<br />

responsibility and supervision of teachers and administrators in the school and of teachers and<br />

administrators coming to the school on a regularly assigned basis.<br />

4-15.3. Special attention and supportive help and guidance in classroom techniques shall<br />

be provided to the new teacher by the principal, assistant principals, supervisors, curriculum<br />

coordinators, and teacher mentors.<br />

4-15.4. The School District shall maintain adequate service for individual testing,<br />

psychiatric help and other clinical services as required by the State Board of Regents on all levels<br />

of the school system. All pertinent information not of a confidential nature available to the<br />
