ORDINARY COUNCIL MINUTES - 28 MARCH 2001 Page 24 Financial Implications Public toilet foreshore - $19,000. SIDE building toilets - $20,000. Oval disabled toilet renovations - $5,500. Replacement of verandah floorboards Community Centre - $2,400 Strategic Implications Enhances tourism, achieves compliance with Disability Services Plan, maintains buildings in a safe manner. Recommendation That the renovation of foreshore public toilets, construction of new SIDE building toilets and renovation of disabled toilets at Denham Oval be considered in the 2001/02 budget deliberations. Voting Requirements Simple Majority Required. Date of Report 22 March 2001 A lengthy discussion by Councillors ensued on the necessity of improvements to foreshore toilets, possibility of funding assistance from the Education Department with refurbishment of SIDE toilets (Old Police Station) and upgrading of oval toilets. Moved Cr Crawford Seconded Cr Sellenger That the recommendation be adopted. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 13.0 HEALTH REPORT Nil 14.0 WORKS REPORT 14.1 WORKS COMMITTEE A meeting was held on 27 March 2001 and the minutes follow. WC 3.0 WC 3.1 CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES Confirmation of the Minutes of the Works Committee meeting held on Tuesday 27 February 2001. Recommendation That the minutes of the Works Committee meeting held on 27 February 2001, as circulated to all Committee members, be confirmed as a true and accurate record. Moved Cr Cane Seconded Cr Hoult That the recommendation be adopted. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY WC 4.0 WORKS SUPERVISOR’S REPORT Author Works Supervisor Disclosure of Any Interest Nil WC 4.1 Country Crew This crew has been working for MRWA patching edge repairs on Shark Bay Road. Although these works are not finished the crew was moved to the Overlander hall to construct the tennis courts. The tennis courts are now completed on the earthworks side and the crew is now undertaking shoulder works for MRWA on Shark Bay Road. Because of the works scheduled ahead for the Country Crew prices were asked for from the two local earthmoving contractors to continue the patching edge repairs on Shark Bay Road. These works would be for one month after which the works program will be looked at to determine who completes the patching program. The Country Crew has yet to complete the Gilroyd Road and Useless Loop Road maintenance. WC 4.2 Town Crew The Town Crew has also been working for MRWA on Monkey Mia and Shark Bay Roads. These works comprised of guide post and signage installation, wash out and scour repairs, patching and culvert maintenance. Car bodies in and around town have been collected and are waiting for Sims Scrapmetal to pick up. Street furniture has been painted and the new play equipment installed. The Crew is at present repairing road verges around town, plus normal town maintenance.
