Recommendation That an over-expenditure of $6,000 be approved for the braking system replacement on the semi water tanker JL 14417. Voting Requirements Absolute Majority Required. Date of Report 21 March 2001 The Works Supervisor added that boosters were also required. U-bolts could not be undone and air hoses needed to be replaced. The issue started when bearings packed in and brake problems were then discovered. Moved Cr Crawford Seconded Cr Cane That the recommendation be adopted. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY WC 5.3 Fish Cleaning Facility FO 104 Author Finance and Administration Manager Disclosure of Any Interest User of the facilities. Background At the Ordinary Council meeting of 31 January 2001 Council resolved to have staff investigate and report on two issues to Council. Those being - That Council staff advise cost of water used at fish cleaning facility. That the issue of using desalinated/saline water at the fish cleaning facility be reinvestigated. Comment Water Usage Desalinated water consumption charges for the period 21 August to 12 December 2000 were $11.60 representing 27kl used at $0.430 per kl. Water meter readings are taken every four months in rural areas and Council staff will endeavour report on the next water consumption charge when it arrives. Desalinated/Saline Water Supply The Manager of Regulatory Services prepared a report for Council which was presented at the Ordinary Council meeting of 28 February 2001.

Recommendation That the information be received. Voting Requirements Simple Majority Required. Date of Report 14 March 2001 The Manager Regulatory Services had advised that samples had been obtained on 20 March 2001 from the Shark Bay Fish Factory. Mr Standring had also obtained samples and sent them to independent laboratories for testing. The results will be compared soon. The matter has been discussed with Water Corporation representatives who advised that it will, if approached by the owner, install on site chlorinator or ultra violet light water disinfecting units at the Shark Bay Fish Factory's cost. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY WC 5.4 Complaint - Dog Attacks and Lack of Adequate Ranger Services DO 101 Provided by Council Author Manager Regulatory Services Disclosure of Any Interest Nil Background A letter of complaint has recently been forwarded to Council in regards to several owners of dogs not keeping their dogs in a manner that allows persons to approach their front door or allow meter readers to carry out their duties in a safe manner. The complainant's husband has required medical attention after being attacked and bitten by one such dog. The complainant feels that Council should be strongly considering hiring a full time ranger that can attend to these matters. A copy of the letter was forwarded to Councillors. Comment While Council has increased its budget allocation for ranger duties in regards to having its existing staff carry out ranger duties, the reality of the situation is that
