Any <strong>horse</strong> which has qualified as a Grade A <strong>Show</strong> Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in<br />
the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes.<br />
To be judged 60% for jumping performance and 40% as for Hunter Classes.<br />
The Jumping to be judged 40% for actual jumping and 20% for style and presence.<br />
Ride and Conformation 40%.<br />
Fences to be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 in number and a maximum height of 1.14m (3ft 9<br />
ins) at the discretion of the Judge. Fences should have a natural appearance and not be easily<br />
dislodged.<br />
No un-numbered obstacle can be included in the course. The manner of going to be taken into account.<br />
No change of rider or tack will be allowed (unless a <strong>horse</strong> is ridden side saddle in which case the saddle<br />
may be changed to allow the judge to ride for the riding phase only). A rider can ride up to two <strong>horse</strong>s<br />
in the jumping phase, but then must select only one <strong>horse</strong> to take forward into the ridden and<br />
conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). A Skull Cap or hat and safety<br />
harness according to current approved BSI or European Standard must be worn by ALL competitors in<br />
the jumping phase of Working Hunter Classes. Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover. No hind<br />
boots or bandages of any description are allowed in the collecting ring, warm up or in the actual class.<br />
On completion of the jumping phase all clear rounds and any other <strong>horse</strong>s the judges may require<br />
should be asked to return to the ring. If a <strong>horse</strong> positively stops, ceases to go forwards at any time<br />
during its jumping round or turns its quarters to a fence or has a complete turnaround these constitute<br />
refusals. If a <strong>horse</strong> jumps the incorrect fence out of a pen or lane it will be eliminated. Horses displaying<br />
continued disobedience, or <strong>horse</strong>s leaving the ring whether mounted or dismounted, will be eliminated.<br />
Working Hunters should initially be called in and lined up in random order.<br />
Penalties: First Refusal, 15; Second Refusal, 20, Third Refusal, Elimination. Jumping Knockdown, 10<br />
(BSJA rules apply for the definition of a knock down); Fall of Horse or Rider, Elimination. Horses with<br />
minus scores will not be required for the second phase of the class.<br />
In the event of a tie in marks, the conformation mark will take precedence, followed by the<br />
ride mark, followed by the style mark.<br />
Working Hunter courses are not to be walked by competitors until the judge has given<br />
permission.<br />
This class is a CHAPS (UK) Working Hunter Style & Performance Championship Qualifier. The highest<br />
placed CHAPS (UK) Member/Registered exhibit from within the class placings not already qualified will<br />
do so, so long as they have their qualifier card signed in the ring Refer to www.chapsuk.com<br />
