Geography Government and Politics AS / A LEVEL D110 What does the course involve? AS Geography: Unit 1 Global Challenges - This unit focuses on the meaning, causes, impacts and management of global challenges and how we can influence global challenges through our own lives. Unit 2 Geographical Investigations - You will be required to show your skills in the planning, collection and analysis of information, as well as concluding and evaluating fieldwork and research findings. You will study two topics, Crowded Coasts and Rebranding. A2 Geography: Unit 3 - Contested Planet - This unit forms the core of A2 Geography and aims to introduce you to key contemporary global issues, and to allow you to explore the significance of the issues and examine a range of potential solutions to them. Unit 4 - You will carry out research into a chosen topic. Standard Entry Requirements See page 9 for details. How will I be assessed You are assessed by written exams in January and summer in both the AS and A2 year. AS / A LEVEL D111 What does the course involve? The course is designed for students with an interest in contemporary politics, political ideas and the ways in which countries are governed. At AS Level, students will develop a broad knowledge and understanding of the political system of the UK. At A2, we study US Politics, US Government and Ideologies, as well as issues such as Politics and Power. Standard Entry Requirements See page 9 for details. How will I be assessed There are two written exams, one in January and one in the summer. What can I do after the course? Most A Level Government and Politics students go to university. As well as studying Government and Politics, they also go on to study a wide range of humanities subjects. What can I do after the course? Most A Level Geography students go to university.
