31.2.1 Interest rate risk Interest rate risk is the risk that changes in market interest rates may affect the value of financial instruments, or cause fluctuations in revenue or the value of the Bank’s financial assets and liabilities. Interest rate risk arises as a result of interest rate structure and the characteristics and structure of the Bank’s assets, liabilities and capital. The Bank’s policy is to manage the adverse effects of interest rate changes to keep them within acceptable levels, and they are closely monitored by the Assets and Liabilities Management Committee. Repricing gap analysis is used as a tool to help the Bank evaluate the impact of interest rate changes on its assets and liabilities and sensitivity analysis is used to help the Bank evaluate the potential impact of interest rate changes on the Bank’s operating results over the next twelve months.
