Welder Certification Program
Chris Lanese and Mike Todd,

The Welder Certification Program
is designed to teach students
the welding skills that local
employers are seeking. This
450-hour program will prepare
students for an occupation as
a certified welder. The program
combines technical shop courses
along with supporting classroom
lessons in weld theory. Topics
include orbital welding, which
is used in high-tech industries
such as semiconductor and
pharmaceutical manufacturing.
A high school diploma or
enrollment in a GED program is
required. Certification testing,
books, welding helmets, jackets,
gloves and safety glasses are
included in the tuition. Through
continuous, open enrollment,
students may begin the program
at any time during the year.
82 Sessions Monday-Thursday

The Capital Region BOCES Adult
Education program works closely
with employers to tailor courses
to their individual needs. Past
educational partnerships have
included Bechtel/Knolls Atomic
Power Lab, CDTA, DeCrescente
Distributing Co., General Electric,
the University at Albany and the
Workforce Development Institute.
