GED (General Equivalency<br />

Diploma) Program<br />

<strong>BOCES</strong> Adult Education Faculty,<br />

Instructors<br />

The GED program is offered<br />

for students age 18 or older<br />

who lack a high school diploma<br />

and have left school. It is free<br />

and features instruction by a<br />

certified teacher in five areas of<br />

study to prepare for the GED<br />

exam. Initial assessment is done<br />

to determine a student’s needs,<br />

and an individualized education<br />

plan is then developed. Classes<br />

meet year-round at <strong>BOCES</strong> and<br />

throughout the <strong>Capital</strong> <strong>Region</strong><br />

and offer continuous enrollment,<br />

so you may register any time<br />

during the semester. For more<br />

GRASP (A GED Home Study Program)<br />

(Available in English Only)<br />

<strong>BOCES</strong> Adult Education Faculty,<br />

GRASP is offered year-round<br />

for adults age 21 and older<br />

who cannot attend GED class.<br />

Individualized instruction packets<br />

are delivered to the library nearest<br />

your home every two weeks for<br />

you to pick up. The program is<br />

free, and you may register by<br />

calling <strong>BOCES</strong> Adult Education<br />

at (518) 862-4705.<br />

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other<br />

Languages) Program<br />

<strong>BOCES</strong> Adult Education Faculty,<br />

Instructors<br />

<strong>BOCES</strong> conducts free classes for<br />

all levels of non-English speakers<br />

age 21 and older who need<br />

further study in English reading<br />

and writing. Our teachers can<br />

teach English to speakers of any<br />

language. You’ll also learn about<br />

American traditions and customs.<br />
