Laramie County School
District 1 started the
2008–2009 school year
with the opening of another
new school and several others
in the process of being built.
In September, students at
Baggs Elementary moved into
their new 48,000-square-foot
facility with capacity for 330
kindergarten
through
sixth-grade
students.
On the
heels of that,
students at
Triumph
High School
moved into
their new 65,000-square-foot
building with capacity for 350
students on Jan. 5, 2009. This
facility is the first of its kind
in the state of Wyoming, as it
houses an alternative school
program.
Also in the works are
Saddle Ridge Elementary
and Rossman Elementary,
both of which broke ground
in June 2008. The schools
are slated for completion
in August 2009 and will
be approximately the same
size and capacity as Baggs
Elementary.
Groundbreaking for the
district’s third comprehensive
high school, South High took
place in June 2008. Featuring
approximately 220,000 square
feet and 80 state-of-the art
classrooms, the new school
is slated for completion in
August 2010.
Other projects include
phased-in major facilities
remodeling at Central High
School, East High School and
Afflerbach Elementary.
