Group Codes
Group Codes are sometimes referred to as Site Codes or
FACs (Facility Access Codes). These are unique four-digit
codes assigned to your vending site by Schlumberger. Depending
on the specific requirements of your site, you may be
assigned as many as 32 of these codes.
Each vend card used at your site must use one of the Group
Codes. All card-accepting Schlumberger equipment must also
be programmed with one or more of these codes. When a
smart card is inserted, the Group Code on the card is compared
to the list of Group Codes stored in LSU/MT memory. If
the code on the card does not match one of the codes in memory,
machine use is not permitted.
Group Codes serve two purposes:
Access Control Group Codes prevent cards from other vending
sites from being used in equipment at your site. They also
allow you to control which groups of users will have access to
certain pieces of equipment.
For instance, the owner of several buildings may want to restrict
the tenants of Building A to the use of laundry equipment
in their own building. To do this, the administrator assigns one
Group Code to Building A. The tenants of Building A receive
cards encoded only with this Group Code. The administrator
then sets up the LSU Maytag so that the only Group Code
stored by that unit is the Building A Group Code. Consequently,
anyone from another building inserting a card with a
different Group Code would be turned away.
Variable Vend Pricing Group Codes can also be used as a
basis for charging different equipment usage fees to different
groups of users.
