Stroke Clubs<br />

Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland<br />

Aims<br />

• To bring together people who have had a stroke in a relaxed and<br />

friendly environment.<br />

Main Activities and <strong>Services</strong><br />

• Stroke Group members enjoy a range <strong>of</strong> games and activities with the<br />

opportunity to meet other people who are in a similar situation. Most<br />

groups organise occasional outings and events.<br />

• Voluntary Support Service groups provide a regular meeting place for<br />

people with communication problems following a stroke. A homevisiting<br />

service may also be available.<br />

• Personal Support Grant up to £2000 is available for equipment or<br />

towards holidays.<br />

• A structured programme <strong>of</strong> relevant communication bases activities,<br />

supported by our Speech & Language Therapist Trainers, provides<br />

encouragement, motivation and an opportunity to practise<br />

communication skills in a supportive environment.<br />
