Central Scotland Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre<br />
Aims<br />
• To provide a comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation residential<br />
programme for adults who have an acquired brain injury to enable people to<br />
achieve their full potential and be re-integrated into the community. A<br />
programme is also provided for people who are minimally responsive.<br />
Main Activities and <strong>Services</strong><br />
• The multi disciplinary team comprises Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy,<br />
Speech and Language Therapy, Neuropsychology and Nursing.<br />
• Each patient undergoes a minimum two week assessment period, at the end<br />
<strong>of</strong> which, our team meets with the patient, their family and any other<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essionals currently involved in their care to discuss their problems. Goals<br />
are agreed with the patients and reviewed in 8 weeks.<br />
• The length <strong>of</strong> the rehabilitation programme is determined by individual<br />
needs.<br />
• Our rehabilitation programme consists <strong>of</strong> individual and group sessions, and<br />
much <strong>of</strong> our work targets problems with daily living skills, memory, anger<br />
and anxiety management, behavioural problems, planning and social skills.<br />
Physical, mobility and fitness issues are dealt with by the physiotherapists<br />
Future planning, such as educational/vocational needs, is also addressed.<br />
Counselling and supporting the patient and their family is central to the<br />
success <strong>of</strong> the programme and our staff combine a patient, positive approach<br />
with a depth <strong>of</strong> skills in this area.<br />

Cost<br />
The costs for NHS patients are met by<br />
the Health Board. Other referrals are<br />
considered individually.<br />
This is a 24 hour facility. The <strong>of</strong>fice is<br />
open: Monday to Friday 9-5pm<br />
How to access services<br />
Referrals are made through the NHS in<br />
Greater <strong>Glasgow</strong> and Clyde. Referrals<br />
are also considered from Insurance and<br />
Case Management <strong>Services</strong>.<br />
